I strongly believe,

that communication is key to success and understanding. In our society as well as in organizations. It is the key to build relationships between people. To inspire people.

Communication is even more crucial in today’s challenging dynamic and fragmented multi-channel world where boundaries blur. Because boundaries blur between PR and journalism, between the digital and the real world differences are hardly recognizable and continue to merge.

All of this also has a massive impact on our values which are shifting dramatically. Show a clear attitude. It is more important than ever. Period. For everyone. But even more so for leaders and communicators.

Meet Christoph

Christoph Burbes

started as press spokesperson Football for the German sports TV channel DSF (today: Sport1) and was responsible for the communication of all football related formats and live broadcasts as well as their presenters since 1999.

From Football to Hollywood

In late 2005, he moved on to NBC Universal and accompanied the market launch of the new free-to-air station Das Vierte within the competitive German TV landscape as the press spokesperson. Additionally, Christoph had the role of Deputy Director Corporate Communications of NBC Universal Germany with its different pay- and free-TV activities.

Between the worlds

When Das Vierte was sold to the Russian company MiniMovie International Channel several years later, Christoph stayed with the channel to help build the new independent media company Das Vierte GmbH in Germany.

Move into the start-up scene

For the mobile advertising start-up madvertise, Christoph Burbes (Director Communications, Marketing & Public Affairs) was responsible for the communications strategy and for building the international communications infrastructure accompanying the market entries in Spain, Italy, the UK and France as well as the acquisition of the Turkish company Mobilike.

Advising tech companies

Afterwards, he joined the cloud work platform twago advising the CEO and founder to build twagos’s international communications infrastructure (Spain, Italy, France etc.) and the strategy with the goal to create a globally leading New Work brand. He also accompanied internationally leading tech companies such as NASDAQ-listed YuMe (multiscreen video advertising) and its launch into the German-speaking markets as well as the leading online survey platform SurveyMonkey.

New challenge

In 2014, Christoph was approached with the exciting task of accompanying the merger of eleven specialized digital agencies into one digital full-service agency named UDG United Digital Group with 700 employees. As Executive Director Communications Christoph Burbes was in charge of setting up an infrastructure from scratch for the external and internal communication as well as the marketing department. To that end he oversaw the communications strategy to merge and build a leading digital agency brand in the German-speaking countries.

From air freight industry to consultancy

With cargo.one, Christoph advised an exciting start-up with the vision of digitizing the air freight industry in the early-stage phase. At the brand and innovation consultancy Sasserath Munzinger Plus Christoph did the corporate communication and the positioning of the management in the media.

Accompanying the transformation of an iconic publisher

Among other mandates Christoph Burbes has been working as a consultant for Condé Nast Germany and its CEO. There, his task was to manage the corporate and change communication accompanying the transformation from a traditional publisher into a modern and innovative media company.
